Nationals

Winners from the State Finals qualify for the Gita Fest USA National Competition to be held September 5-6, 2026 at Chinmaya Amarnath, Pittsburgh, PA.

Verses

Participants will chant verses from Bhagavad Gita Chapter 12. Participants will begin chanting from a prompt provided by the judges panel from the first quarter of selected verses.

To participants, families and judges visiting from our sister centers: The Chinmaya Triveni community is excited to welcome you to Sacramento and arrange your stay with host families! Please let us know of your travel plans, and if you would like to stay with host families, at gitachanting@chinmaya-sacramento.org.

Please note that participant families should bear the cost of travel, and if arranging on their own, accommodation expenses as well.

Format

The first quarter of a verse from Ch. 12 will be read out as a prompt to the participant. The participant then has to recall and chant that verse and subsequent two verses that follow the prompted quarter.
Participants have 10 seconds to answer the prompt before timing out.
There will be 4-5 prompts given to each participant.
Chapter opening must be chanted by all participants, after which verse prompts will begin.
After all attempts are completed, participants must chant the closing colophon.
The first two places in each category will qualify for Nationals.
